OUR PROJECTS
Trinity City Arts commissioned 6 incredible artists – three adults and three teens – to co-create a comic that takes a “hero’s journey” through an Afro-Futurist New Orleans in search of justice, police transformation, and a world with human rights for all. Written for youth ages 12-18, the comic tells a gripping story and includes resources to help youth create conversations and art. We’re creating this comic with YAYA, Inc, an iconic New Orleans arts center that provides education in arts and entrepreneurship to youth. For more details, click HERE.

BLACK AND BLUE, an original play, was created on commission from The Yvonne Bechet Theatre Project (now The Black and Blue Story Project) in 2016. Inspired by the life and career of Yvonne Bechet, one of New Orleans' first Black female police officers, BLACK AND BLUE explores the question of how we can learn from her legacy in order to transform policing. Ariadne Blayde wrote the script based on extensive research and interviews. BLACK AND BLUE premiered at Dillard University in 2018. For a glimpse into the project watch HERE a reading of BLACK AND BLUE livestreamed on the global, commons-based, peer produced HowlRound TV network at howlround.tv recorded on Saturday 3 October at 12 p.m. PDT.
