We Ate & Read @ Melba’s!

Our latest community event was a blast! Read on for a recap and photos.

Trinity City Comics is proud to have Melba’s Poboys on Elysian Fields as our community access point in New Orleans.  Through their lunchtime Eat & Read Literacy Program, Melba’s has given away thousands of books for free by dozens of authors all the way from local favorites to internationally-known Pulitzer Prize-winners.  So we fit right in!

On Saturday, March 2nd, Melba’s bought and then gave away dozens of copies of Trinity City #1 signed by two of our amazing teen co-creators.  Morgan and Keith (pictured above, right, getting ready to sign LOTS of books!) were so patient with their fans!  They signed books, answered questions, gave encouragement to other young artists, and even collected a business card or two. Our team (pictured above, left) was thrilled to be there!

It was an awesome cross-section of humanity:  teachers, construction workers, literature professors, short-order chefs, sheriff’s deputies, postal workers, former comic book store owners, moms of comic book artists, arts educators, from babies to seniors, all united in their love for stories, their belief in New Orleans’ young people, and their appreciation of a great po-boy.

Thank you to Melba's for a wonderful afternoon! Keep an eye out for our next Eat & Read.
